We are excited to announce that we have an excellent group of parade participants/performers/people for this year's pursuit of the ultimate in parade routes! (Yes, we ARE proud of our parade, deemed by many in the area to be the longest evening parade in Crawford County, perhaps even western Pennsylvania, dare we suggest the entire Commonwealth?!?! No matter how you categorize our marching units, floats, drill teams, motorized units, animal entries, bands, and others, we know that WE LOVE A PARADE and WE LOVE ALL OF YOU WHO PARTICIPATE, WHO SPECTATE, WHO DONATE, WHO VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME! We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 in Cochranton PA.. The parade steps-off at 6:30PM. (Line-up begins at 5:00PM for those units that applied and are registered. Please come to Christmas in Cochranton 2018! The Presbyterian Church is hosting a pancake breakfast on Saturday; the Cochranton Area Public Library is holding a book sale Friday and Saturday; various businesses are sharing Christmas open houses during the weekend; and the CARE Committee is lighting up Cochranton with a restored display of the H.L..Moore decorations in the yard beside the library Friday evening to usher in the season (and hosting a house decorating contest!!)!! Come, spend some time, enjoy our little town and her special events. Other towns in northwestern PA are hosting Christmas tree events and holiday open houses this weekend also -- Meadville's Trees of Christmas and Franklin's Barrow-Civic Theater's Christmas Tree Extravaganza! Visit Christmas Tree Lane in Cochranton and other wonderful displays in the area this weekend to put yourself in the right mood to decorate and celebrate! Parade Day in Cochranton has arrived!
"Farms, Families, Fairs, & Fun!" is our theme this year! Our Grand Marshal is a long-time FARMer involved in the Community! (Wait until tonight for the big reveal and give him your applause, please!) FAMILIES participating, spectating, volunteering! Be sure to visit the FAIR before and after the parade, it's loads of fun, fuzzy noses to be petted, and tasty treats to enjoy! FUN is what it's all about -- we're having FUN and hope you do to!! Volunteers are as ready as can be, out and about, setting up tables, planting number stakes, and a myriad of other little details (that can't be seen but are crucial to the parade running smoothly). Participants will be arriving late this afternoon and at 6:30pm our annual parade will step-off, traversing the streets of Cochranton! The weather has potential for something other than sun (we aren't going to mention that 4-letter word starting with "R"), but the percentages are in our favor and if you're of the praying sort, please say a couple extra prayers for those stormy-type things to scatter away from Cochranton today. We ARE having a parade and we are planning on it being Picture Perfect and not too hot! Our volunteers will be out and about and very busy today, so, unfortunately, calls will not be returned - we want to make sure tonight runs smoothly for everyone and we appreciate your understanding. Please accept our thanks, too, for understanding that we are all volunteers who have families, jobs, and other organizations with which we donate our time. This summer has proven interesting for our crew to meet as several little things cropped up, trying to throw kinks in our planning time (e.g. our parade secretary fell & broke her hip in May with repair surgery later the same day -- you'll see her for a bit today, with her walker and some 4-wheeled transportation), but, our volunteers are wonderful people and the show has gone on!! We hope you enjoy "the show" a.k.a. the annual Cochranton Community Fair Parade, tonight, Wednesday, August 8, 2018!! Bring your lawn chairs (and a container to collect the candy...), your appetites (be sure to visit the fair before and after the parade for some delightful Firemen's Fries, Presbyterian Hot Sausage, Catholic Church Funnel Cakes, Methodist Taco Salads and Loaded Baked Potatoes, Lemonade, and Many More Tasty Treats throughout the fairgrounds!)!! 2018 Parade Plans are well underway! Our theme for 2018 is "Farms, Families, Fairs
& Fun! We hope you can join us as a participant, spectator, volunteer, or donor! We welcome you! Please be patient as updates are in progress for the website and application process. Our goal is to have everything ready for you after May 5, 2018. Stay tuned! March on.......... The 2017 Float Contest winners are now posted on the website. Congratulations to them and Thank You to all who participated in this year's contest and parade!
